Development
Organisation
Canadian Cooperation
Office (CCO) in Cambodia is a CIDA Project The CCO
works to enhance the achievements of Canada’s
development aid by assisting CIDA in many ways
including: conducting sector studies, providing
information on country perspectives, analysing
situations, and providing logistics and resources
for in-country planning, scoping and design of
missions. There are 5 advisors in the CCO who keep
abreast of all that is happening in their
particular sectors. The sectors are Health, Food
Security, Governance and Civil Society, Local
Initiatives, and Agriculture. The following four
funds were established and financed by Canadian
Aid: the Health Initiatives Fund (HIF); the Food
Security Initiatives Fund (FSIF); the Civil
Society and Governance Fund (CSF); and the Canada
Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI). The funds
provide grants for projects implemented by local
and/or international NGOs and by different
government institutions. The projects fall
generally in the areas of health, nutrition, food
security, governance, democratic development,
human rights, community development, local
initiatives and capacity building of different
stakeholders. For detailed information on fund

CIDA
Projects and Innovation
Between
November 23 and December 1, 2005, CIDA held
pan-Canadian consultations with its partners on
the implementation of the Canadian Partnership
Fund. Approximately 150 participants took part in
these consultations in 11 cities across the
country.
CIDA
is currently examining how to follow up on its
partners’ recommendations regarding the
implementation of the fund, and also with regards
to the whole of its funding mechanisms for the
voluntary sector. CIDA will communicate its
decisions in the following weeks.
We
are confident this exercise will enable CIDA to
offer its partners more effective and efficient
support, thus contributing to the realisation of
our mandate of reducing poverty.
